Simple Voice Chat

From Prosperity SMP Wiki

Simple Voice Chat is the proximity voice chat plugin on Prosperity SMP. Players near each other can talk using their microphone without needing Discord or a third-party app.

Setup

Simple Voice Chat requires a client-side mod to work. Without the mod installed, you can still play normally — you just will not hear or transmit voice.

Java Edition

  1. Download the Simple Voice Chat mod for your Minecraft version from Modrinth or CurseForge.
  2. Install it in your mods/ folder (requires Fabric or Forge).
  3. Launch Minecraft and join the server. The voice chat icon appears in the top left.
  4. Press the voice chat key (default: V) to open settings.

Bedrock Edition

Simple Voice Chat is not available on Bedrock Edition. Bedrock players should use the Discord voice channel as an alternative.

Controls

Key Action
V Open voice chat settings
Hold to talk (configurable) Transmit voice
Scroll wheel in settings Adjust volume

Range

Voice fades with distance. The default range is approximately 48 blocks. Players beyond this range cannot hear you.

Groups

You can create private voice groups to talk with specific players regardless of distance:

  1. Press V to open the voice chat menu.
  2. Click Create Group and invite players.
